What is the NATC?

The National Agribusiness Technology Center is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to the identification of "cutting edge" technologies and committed to assisting in their application in the American farm community.

Technology to Enhance the Bottom Line

The center was formed to pursue and assist the development of application of the "best available technologies" that will have an immediate result in increased economic viability, and enhanced productivity for the American farmer.

Technology to Protect our Food Supply

In its role as a national clearing house for technology solutions to benefit the American farmer, the NATC will assess, advocate, and provide a support community for technology products that promote the maintenance of a safe food supply.  Strong emphasis is being placed on assisting with immediate implementation of a higher level of protection of America's food supply from disease to other threats.

Why are we needed?

We believe the key to maintaining America's food supply is to effectively identify and contain potential threats to animal health and food safety.  To that end, The National Agribusiness Technology Center has designated the protection of America's food supply as its first "Priority Focus Topic".  In 2009 the Center will make a concerted effort to asses information management tools which have the potential to provide advanced technological assistance for those who shoulder the responsibility for protecting America's food supply.

Why Prioritize "Food Production Security"?

Today, public officials are faced with a seemingly impossible task of providing higher levels of service (many as unfunded mandates) at a time of shrinking budgets and decreased staffing levels.  This has resulted in the creation of a gap between available funding and service demands.  The NATC will strive to provide technologies that will bridge this gap in the most cost effective manner.

History has shown that prompt identification of disease trends and hot-spots are essential to effective control.  Tracking and research of historical trend data and rapid ad-hoc analysis of results is the key.  For this reason, the National Agribusiness Technology Center has selected "Protection of Americas Food Production" as our first "Priority Focus Topic" commencing in January of 2009.
